All About The Vauxhall Motors Company
Have you ever heard of Vauxhall Motors before? Despite the fact that it is the third largest producer of vehicles in the UK, most people have never heard of this business. It is a limited company, one that focuses almost entirely on the automotive industry. It got its start back in the 1850s. It was once a top producer, but that all changed with companies like Ford Motor Company. Here is a brief overview of this business which was founded over 160 years ago that is still going strong today.
How Did This Company Get Started?
This business is now headquartered in Luton, specifically in Bedfordshire England. It is part of a German company by the name of Opel which is owned by the French company Groupe PSA. As with many automobile manufacturers, they are not solely independent. They have gone through many transitions which include acquisitions and changes of ownership. Their primary focus to produce commercial vehicles which are driven all over the UK, and it also produces very popular passenger cars which are known for their size and gas mileage
How Their Vehicles Have Changed Over Time
Prior to World War II, this business was known as a producer of luxury vehicles. However, to keep up with the need for higher levels of production, began to mass-produce its vehicles instead. Today, they are part of events like the British touring car championships, and was once owned by GM. The acquisition of this company by Groupe PSA has led to many changes in its structuring, and the types of vehicles that it makes. For example, at the Luton plant, there are just under 1000 people that produce over 100,000 vehicles a year. The highest production, however, comes out of the Ellesmere Port plant which employs about 2000 people and produces nearly 200,000 units per year.
The vehicles that this company makes include a city car called the Adam, and another called the Viva. There are also large and small family cars, subcompact cars, plus SUVs. Some of their high-performance vehicles which are sold under the name VXR are very popular in the United Kingdom. Despite having expensive vehicles that it does sell, it's primary focus is to maintain its position as the third largest producer of passenger cars in the UK and will hopefully achieve the number one position vehicle development and marketing.
