Chery Tiggo 4 Launch Event: Affordable Self‑Charging Hybrid SUV

Chery has officially launched their 4th model to the UK market, the Chery Tiggo 4. A competitively priced self‑charging hybrid SUV designed to deliver modern technology, strong performance and everyday practicality. With growing interest in hybrid vehicles as a stepping stone between traditional petrol models and full electrification, the Tiggo 4 is ideally positioned for families and individuals looking for improved efficiency without the need to plug in.

Britannia Car Leasing was invited to Bicester for the official launch of the Tiggo 4, hosted at the stunning Tythe Barn. The setting provided the perfect backdrop to experience the Tiggo 4 first-hand, including the opportunity to get behind the wheel and take the vehicle out in real‑world driving conditions.

Self‑Charging Hybrid Performance

At the heart of the Chery Tiggo 4 is a self‑charging hybrid powertrain, combining a 1.5‑litre petrol engine with a 1.83kWh battery. Together, this system produces 204 BHP, delivering smooth acceleration and responsive performance. The Tiggo 4 completes the 0–62 mph sprint in 8.9 seconds, making it more than capable for both urban driving and longer motorway journeys.

During our time behind the wheel, the power delivery felt refined and well balanced, reinforcing the Tiggo 4’s appeal as an easy‑to‑drive, confidence‑inspiring family SUV.

Efficiency is another standout feature, with combined fuel economy of up to 53.2 mpg and CO₂ emissions of 120 g/km. This makes the Tiggo 4 a cost‑effective option compared to traditional petrol SUVs, while removing the inconvenience often associated with plugging in.

Chery Tiggo 4 Car Lineup

Designed for Everyday Family Life

Despite being the most compact SUV in Chery’s line‑up, sitting below the Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9, the Tiggo 4 impressed with its thoughtfully designed interior. The cabin feels light and airy, offering generous headroom and legroom, making it a genuinely practical option for everyday family use.

A 430‑litre boot provides ample space for shopping, pushchairs or weekend luggage, ensuring the Tiggo 4 is well suited to busy lifestyles.
In terms of size, the Tiggo 4 measures 4,320 mm in length, 1,831 mm in width, and 1,652 mm in height. This places it firmly alongside rivals such as the Škoda Kamiq and Vauxhall Frontera, while offering more presence and practicality than smaller competitors like the Nissan Juke or Volkswagen T‑Cross.

Bold Design Inspired by the Tiger

True to its name, the Tiggo 4 adopts a bold, confident design inspired by the power and presence of a tiger. Standout features include distinctive ‘Tiger Claw’ print‑line headlights, which give the front end a sharp, modern look that helps it stand out in the compact SUV segment.

Advanced Safety and Driver Assistance

Chery has placed a strong emphasis on safety and driver assistance, equipping the Tiggo 4 with a wide range of features as standard. Integrated Cruise Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control, along with the Multiple Collision Defence System adds reassurance in busy driving environments.

Selectable ECO and SPORT drive modes allow drivers to tailor the vehicle's response to suit different driving conditions, further enhancing comfort and control.
