Another year has come and gone, which means only one thing… there’s some new models of cars coming to the market very soon.
A hatchback, commonly referred to as a family car is the one constant in the continued revolution of new vehicle designs. In the U.K we are a stickler for reliability and these handy all endurance cars allow us Brits to gather all our requirements into one place. Whether it be taking the kids on the school run or packing your bags and heading down to the “Costa del Cornwall” for the week, hatchbacks provide enough spacious room and durability compiled with low running costs to survive any task we throw at them. Here we are looking at some of the best family cars coming to a showroom near you in 2019.
For years now, BMW has been at the forefront of the market their saloon style hatchbacks and more than likely if we were to say, think of a typical style of family car, the BMW 3 series would spring to mind. However, this new iteration of the classic medium sized car might just be the best one yet. Maintaining the classic aura that the 3 Series has and modernising it for the new generation was a task which developers overcame with ease. It keeps the brands distinguishable design and whilst gaining in size manages to decrease in weight coming in 55KG lighter than its predecessor. This slightly larger build allows more interior space and with in-car technology upgraded for 2019, it provides the same promise of a comfortable ride with a sporty and nimble edge to it. The price may have risen compared the last few generations of the 3 Series, but with more tech than ever, a greater interior space and its ability to adapt to the number of passengers in the vehicle to provide extra control, the 2019 adaptation could revolutionise family cars whilst managing to stay reliable as ever.
The next generation of this wild styling, high driving position family car is on its way in the summer of 2019, with the grand reveal not yet announced, we can only speculate on how the new Juke will compare to its predecessor. However, with the few details we do have so far, this new model is the perfect upgrade for a car that has not had a redesign for almost 10 years. The rapid rise of all electric and hybrid cars has been utilised by Nissan and you could almost believe that the Juke has been forgotten with its sibling “Nissan Leaf” taking all the headlines, but it will be back with a bang. The manufacturer who will be designing and building the new Juke at their plant in Sunderland have promised extra leg room and head room, as well as a much more space for rear passengers. An increased boot size will be perfect for those treacherous trips to the supermarket and maintaining its size will allow to be a presence on the road amongst the ever-growing population of 4x4’s. A new range of engines is expected to be launched with the Juke, ranging from small and eco-friendly petrol units, to powerful diesels ideal for those long motorway journeys in the school holidays.
Volkswagen’s have recently been given a bad name, especially the Golf model. Being labelled with the “boy racer” tag many people forget that this classic hatchback is a pioneer in the family car and in 2019 it will continue to be pivotal in many family homes across the UK. This is the eighth generation of the Golf model and manufacturers Volkswagen have spared no expense in ensuring that this car will be adapted for 2019 technology. A complete re shuffle with the interior is expected and the days of manual dials coming to an end, it is expected that a full digital touchscreen interface will be integrated into the new model. Bosses at the German manufacturers have described the Golf’s interior as a “total digital environment” and alongside the connectivity options and fuel saving technology, the new 2019 Golf could be the perfect car for a new family this upcoming year. Many of the petrol variants that Volkswagen will release in 2019 will feature mild hybrid technology, allowing you to cut down the fuel costs, whilst also maintaining the power required to drive a vehicle full of passengers. Due to the previous models of the Golf being so good, there has not been a lot of need to change the driving specifications of the car, the 2019 model focuses on giving you an immersive experience with its updated technology and gives you a glimpse into the future of the brand thanks to a special 'eSim' which will allow the car to provide 3D sat-nav maps, always connect to the strongest radio signal you require and automatically allow the engine to coast in the lead up to junctions or when driving downhill.
